Teosyal
Hyaluronic acid filler
A family of hyaluronic acid fillers made in different densities for different areas; it has a separate form for thin-skinned areas such as under the eyes. The result is visible the same day and, if needed, can be reversed with hyaluronidase.

What is it?
Teosyal is a family of injectable fillers containing cross-linked hyaluronic acid. It has forms of different densities for the lips, mid-face, jawline and fine lines; its more fluid form made for the under-eye area is one of the features that sets this family apart.
Hyaluronic acid is a molecule found naturally in the skin. In gel form it gives the tissue volume, support and contour; it is absorbed by the body over time and, if needed, can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.
Which form is used in which area is decided not by the product catalogue but at the examination, according to your facial proportions and your goal.
How does it work?
The gel gives volume as soon as it is placed in the target layer; the result is visible the same day. As the swelling of the first days goes down, the appearance settles. In thin-skinned areas such as under the eyes, a more fluid form and a cannula technique are preferred; bruising is more likely in this area.
- Assessment: the area, the goal and the suitable form are decided.
- Treatment: the gel is placed with a needle or cannula.
- Early period: the swelling goes down within a few days.
- Absorption: the gel is absorbed naturally over time; the need for repeat treatment varies from person to person.
Treatment Areas
- Under the eyes — fluid form for this thin-skinned area
- Lips — volume and contour
- Cheekbones — mid-face support
- Chin and jawline — contour
- Nasolabial and marionette lines
Procedure Steps
Assessment
Rather than applying a standard protocol to everyone, skin quality, signs of ageing, the treatment area and your expectations are assessed first. The aim is not to do more procedures but to apply the right protocol, to the right patient, in the right area. Suitability for the under-eye area is assessed separately; not every under-eye hollow is suitable for filler.
Preparation
The area is cleaned with antiseptic and a topical anaesthetic cream is applied.
Treatment
The gel is placed with a technique suited to the area and in controlled amounts. The session takes about 20–30 minutes.
Review
The result is assessed once the swelling has gone down; a small top-up is planned if needed.
Duration and Longevity
How long it lasts depends on the person's metabolism, the area treated and how mobile that area is; no fixed duration is given in advance. The gel is absorbed naturally over time; the timing of a repeat treatment is agreed together at the review.
Who is it suitable for?
- Adults describing under-eye hollowness or a tired appearance who are found suitable at the examination
- People aiming for measured volume or contour in the lips, cheeks or jawline
- People who prefer a reversible treatment
Who is it not suitable for?
- Pregnant and breastfeeding people
- People with an active infection, a cold sore (herpes) flare or an open wound in the treatment area
- People with a bleeding disorder, and people taking blood thinners without their physician's approval
- People with an uncontrolled autoimmune disease
- Under 18s
- People with a known allergy to hyaluronic acid or to local anaesthetics
- People with marked under-eye bags or skin laxity — filler does not correct this
- People who have a permanent filler in the treatment area (assessed separately)
Aftercare
- Do not massage the area or wear make-up on it for the first 24 hours.
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms and strenuous exercise in the first days.
- On the day of treatment, avoid alcohol and any blood thinners your physician has not approved.
- Swelling and bruising go down within a few days; the result is assessed after this period.
- In case of increasing pain, blanching of the skin or a colour change, contact the clinic without waiting.
Possible Side Effects
- Temporary swelling, redness and tenderness at the injection site
- Bruising — goes down within a few days
- A small palpable irregularity or asymmetry; corrected if needed
- Rarely, infection or a late-onset reaction
- Rare but serious: filler entering a blood vessel. Because hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase in this situation, there is room to intervene; an emergency protocol is kept ready at the clinic.
- Temporary swelling and a bluish tinge under the eyes; more likely with superficial placement
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Teosyal be used under the eyes?
The family includes a fluid form made for the under-eye area, and this area is one of those where the treatment is often chosen. However, not every under-eye area is suitable for filler; bags and skin laxity are not corrected with filler. Suitability is decided at the examination.
What is the difference between Teosyal and Juvederm?
Both are cross-linked hyaluronic acid families and are used for similar purposes. The product families differ in density and in forms designed for specific areas; neither is superior to the other, and the choice depends on the area and the physician's assessment.
Can it be dissolved?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase; a result you do not like can be reversed.
When is the result visible?
The same day. In the first days the appearance may be slightly fuller than it really is because of swelling; it settles within a few days.
How long does it last?
It varies by area and by person; no fixed duration is given in advance. The timing of a repeat treatment is discussed at the review.
