Skin Rejuvenation

"Skin rejuvenation" is not the name of a single procedure. Whether your concern is wrinkles, volume loss, dryness or spots is what changes the answer. This page was written to help you separate out which heading applies to you.

Active substance
Method chosen according to the concern (there is no single active substance)
Procedure time
Set at the examination
Longevity
Each heading has its own duration; no single figure can be given on this page.

What is it?

Two people who come to the clinic saying "my skin looks tired, I want rejuvenation" often do not need the same thing. At least four different concerns can sit behind the same sentence, and each one calls for a different approach.

This page does not present a procedure. Its purpose is to help you work out which heading your concern falls under and to point you to the right page. Choosing the wrong heading causes disappointment more often than the treatment itself does.

The visible effects of ageing on the face do not come from a single mechanism, and so they have no single solution. The first is expression lines: lines on the forehead, between the brows and at the outer corners of the eyes that appear with movement. Their source is muscle movement, and the treatment aimed at them is botulinum toxin. The second is volume loss: tissue receding in areas such as the cheekbones, temples, jawline and under the eyes. What is needed here is support for the volume, and that is the subject of the filler class. The third is skin quality and moisture balance: dullness, dryness and an uneven look to the tissue. Adding volume does not help here; the target is the quality of the skin itself. The fourth is spots and pigmentation problems, and managing them resembles none of the above. Most people have more than one of these four at the same time; in that case the order matters, and addressing them all at once is not always right.

Which concern, which page?

If your concern is lines that appear with expression, the relevant page is botulinum toxin treatment; it sets out in detail which lines it works on and which it does not. If your concern is volume loss, the hyaluronic acid filler page explains the substance and the choice of gel; for area-specific detail there are pages on the lips, nose, jawline and under-eye area. If your concern is dryness and dullness, the skin booster and salmon DNA (polynucleotide) pages describe each treatment together with how they differ. If hair loss is the issue, the mesotherapy and PRP page explains at which stage it helps and at which it does not. No direction is given on this page for spots and pigmentation: because this heading is not defined by a separate page in our clinic's list of treatments, it is assessed at the examination. Finally, if you are not sure which heading applies to you, the Aura 3D analysis page describes one way of seeing what kind of change has taken place in which area of the face.

  1. Lines that appear with expression → botulinum toxin treatment
  2. Volume loss → hyaluronic acid filler and the area-specific pages
  3. Dryness, dullness, tissue quality → skin booster and salmon DNA (polynucleotides)
  4. Hair loss → mesotherapy and PRP

Animated Explainer

What does salmon DNA (polynucleotide) do for the skin? (in Turkish)

English translation of the on-screen text

A new-generation skin healer. Made from DNA fragments obtained from wild salmon; it activates the skin's own ability to renew itself. From wild salmon: a reliable medical device. Salmon DNA is produced from purified polynucleotides (PN). Breaks down slowly in the tissue: it breaks down slowly within the tissue while keeping its regular structure. Dermis and epidermis: renews their biological structure. It increases skin elasticity by renewing the biological structure of the dermis and epidermis. Skin elasticity and fine wrinkles: supports collagen production. It repairs thin skin damaged from within by ageing and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. Skin tone and texture: a natural glow. It improves pigmentation and the overall brightness of skin tone; it helps give the skin a smoother texture. Highly biocompatible: high compatibility with human DNA. It consists of DNA fragments with high biocompatibility. Targeted treatment area: skin repair for the whole face, wrinkles around the eyes and acne scars. Who is this treatment suitable for? People who want naturally healthy skin, who aim to refresh and firm their face, who have fine facial wrinkles, and who have sensitive, thin skin. Natural skin beauty: elasticity and hydration. It strongly increases skin elasticity and hydration, revealing the skin's natural beauty. Dr. Burak Demirhan, Küçükyalı, Istanbul. Animations are illustrative. Suitability and results vary from person to person; the decision is made at the physician's examination.

Treatment Areas

  • Expression lines — muscle-related
  • Volume loss — cheekbones, temples, chin, under the eyes
  • Skin quality and moisture balance
  • Scalp — hair loss
  • Not possible: resolving every heading with a single treatment
  • Not possible: spots and pigmentation — no direction is given on this page; assessed at the examination

Procedure Steps

  1. Separating the concern

It is established which heading the thing that bothers you falls under. Most people have more than one heading at the same time.

  2. Order

If there is more than one heading, it is decided which one is addressed first. Addressing them all at once is not always right.

  3. Choice of method

The treatment suited to the heading is identified; where that is the case, you are also told that no treatment is needed.

  4. Expectations

What the chosen method will and will not do is discussed openly before any treatment.

  5. Plan

Whether it is a one-off or given in sessions, and whether it will need repeating, is made clear.

Duration and Longevity

Because this is not a procedure page, it is not possible to give a single duration. The effect of botulinum toxin, how long fillers last and the duration of treatments aimed at skin quality all differ from one another, and each is described separately on its own page. The only thing they have in common is this: none of these headings gives a lasting result. All of them fade over time and need repeating if you want to maintain them.

Who is it suitable for?

  • People who cannot decide where to start
  • People with more than one concern at the same time
  • People who did not get what they expected from a previous treatment
  • People who want to understand what will be done before any treatment
  • People expecting a realistic plan set out in order

Who is it not suitable for?

  • People expecting a single treatment to resolve every concern
  • People looking for a single procedure called "skin rejuvenation" — no such procedure exists
  • People expecting a surgical-level change — none of the headings on this page is surgical
  • People looking for a direct treatment for spots and pigmentation — this heading is assessed separately at the examination
  • Pregnant and breastfeeding people (each heading needs a separate assessment)
  • Where basics such as sun protection, sleep, nutrition and smoking have not been addressed underneath the search for a treatment: treatments carried out before these are corrected bring less of the expected benefit, and saying so is part of the assessment.

Aftercare

  • Each treatment has its own aftercare instructions; they are on the relevant page and are given in writing after the procedure.
  • General rule: using sunscreen supports the effect under every heading.
  • General rule: do not massage the treated area yourself.
  • General rule: judge the result after the swelling has resolved.
  • With session-based treatments, keep to the intervals; irregular sessions reduce the expected benefit.
  • If an unexpected symptom appears, contact the clinic and say which treatment you had.

Possible Side Effects

  • Side effects vary with the treatment chosen; each is set out separately on its own page.
  • Common to all injection-based treatments: temporary redness, swelling and small bruises
  • Rare but serious in the filler class: tissue damage caused by gel blocking a blood vessel
  • Rare with botulinum toxin: temporary drooping of the eyelid or eyebrow
  • With session-based treatments: temporary small bumps and tenderness at the injection points

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a single procedure called "skin rejuvenation", and what is it?

No. It is an umbrella heading. At least four different concerns can sit behind it: expression lines, volume loss, skin quality and spots. Each needs a different approach, and choosing the wrong heading is the most common cause of disappointment.

How do I know where to start, and what is looked at first?

It starts with working out which heading the thing that bothers you falls under. Does the line appear with movement, or is it there at rest as well? Is your concern a hollow, or a dull look to the tissue? These distinctions are made at the examination.

I have more than one concern. Are they all treated at the same time?

Most people have more than one heading at the same time, but addressing them all at once is not always right. The order matters; some headings make it harder to assess the result of another.

Which treatment is considered for my expression lines?

Lines that appear with movement come from muscle movement, and the treatment aimed at them is botulinum toxin. The relevant page sets out in detail which lines it works on and which it does not.

What is considered for the volume loss in my face?

Volume loss is the subject of the filler class. The hyaluronic acid filler page explains the substance and the choice of gel; for area-specific detail there are pages on the lips, nose, jawline and under-eye area.

My skin looks dull and dry. What can be done?

Adding volume does not help under this heading; the target is the quality of the skin itself. The skin booster and salmon DNA (polynucleotide) pages describe this heading and how the two differ from each other. Both are supportive and are maintained through sessions.

Is there any direction on this page for my spots?

No direction is given on this page for spots and pigmentation; because this heading is not defined by a separate page in our clinic's list of treatments, it is assessed at the examination.

Are the results of the treatments under these headings lasting?

None of them gives a lasting result. All of them fade over time and need repeating if you want to maintain them. The duration for each heading is described on its own page; it is not possible to give a single figure.

Might I be told that no treatment is needed? Is that a possibility?

Yes, and that is part of the assessment. If matters such as sun protection, sleep, nutrition or smoking lie underneath the concern, treatments carried out without addressing them bring less of the expected benefit.

What determines the cost of skin rejuvenation, and what does it depend on?

No price information is shared on this page, and because it is not a single procedure no single framework can be given either. The factors that affect the assessment vary with the treatment chosen; they become clear on the relevant page and at the examination.
